The Purpose of Recovery

Hello!

Today, May 27th, we’ve launched our "Love Is" giving day fundraiser alongside 23 other non-profit organizations. This one-day event makes a huge impact on our organization's financial sustainability and the ability to serve members of the community. At TPOR, we get to help others find purpose in their recovery as well as support their family members. I'm passionate about the work I’m involved in as a peer coach, by aiding people in achieving their goals and getting connected to the community in which they live.

We believe, and science supports, that sustained long-term recovery is best accomplished through creating purpose in one's life. By using the skills we've developed in our own lives, we get to provide support to people creating their own paths. That’s what we do at The Purpose of Recovery... provide a community of peer mentors and coaches that promote the pursuit of purpose in long-term substance use recovery with teens, adults, and families.

There are so many ways we connect with those in the community, and every dollar counts. I ask that you donate to support those who currently receive peer support and those who will come after them. Even a $5 donation helps because every little bit counts, and if a financial donation isn’t possible, pass this message along.

My personal fundraising goal is $200 for the day and $30,000 for our entire organization! We have donors matching up to $15,000, so please give generously and spread this message widely.

The The Purpose of Recovery Story

The Purpose of Recovery (TPOR) is a peer-led nonprofit Recovery Community Organization (RCO) dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. Rooted in lived experience, TPOR provides free, bilingual, culturally responsive, non-clinical peer support that makes recovery accessible, inclusive, and community-driven.

TPOR offers Peer Recovery Coaching (in English and Spanish), support groups and workshops, parent and caregiver support, family education and resource navigation, and sober social events that foster connection and belonging. The organization serves youth, justice-involved individuals, unhoused community members, veterans, families, and anyone seeking support at any stage of recovery.

Guided by a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach, TPOR believes recovery is more than abstinence—it is connection, purpose, and self-defined growth. By building recovery capital and collaborating across behavioral health, housing, education, and justice systems, TPOR is creating a safe, empowering community where individuals and families can heal, thrive, and sustain long-term recovery together.

To reach more individuals and families in need, we are inviting you to take an active role in expanding this life-changing work. Our goal for Love Is Giving Day is to raise $30,000—and every dollar moves someone closer to recovery, stability, and hope. Through the power of peer-to-peer fundraising and generous matching gifts, your contribution can go even further, doubling the impact of your support. We encourage you not only to give, but to share our mission with your network, start your own fundraising page, and rally others to join you. Together, we can build a stronger recovery community where no one has to navigate this journey alone. Make your gift today and be part of a movement that transforms lives—because recovery is possible, and it starts with all of us.
