The Purpose of Recovery

Some words from Maybelline
M

As many of you know, I recently stepped into the role of Executive Director at The Purpose of Recovery (TPOR), a peer-led nonprofit Recovery Community Organization serving individuals and families impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges here in Orange County. Taking on this role has deepened my commitment to ensuring that recovery support remains accessible, inclusive, and rooted in community for everyone who needs it.

At TPOR, we provide free, bilingual, culturally responsive, non-clinical peer support services that help people find hope, healing, and connection. From Peer Recovery Coaching in English and Spanish, to support groups, family education, sober social events, and resource navigation, our work reaches youth, families, justice-involved individuals, unhoused community members, veterans, and many others navigating recovery journeys.

What makes TPOR unique is that our work is grounded in lived experience. We believe recovery is more than abstinence—it is purpose, belonging, self-defined growth, and the opportunity to build a meaningful life in community with others.

As I continue leading TPOR into this next chapter, my hope is to move the dial on our mission and vision in an even bigger way—but we cannot do it alone. We need the support of our family, friends, colleagues, community partners, and everyone who believes that recovery should be accessible to all.

This Love Is Giving Day, I am asking for your help to keep TPOR’s impact alive and growing in Orange County. Every dollar truly counts. Your generosity directly supports life-changing peer services, recovery support programs, family engagement, and safe spaces where people can heal and thrive.

Our overall goal is to raise $30,000, and with the power of matching gifts and peer-to-peer fundraising, your contribution can go even further.

If you are able, please consider making a donation, sharing this page with your network, or even starting your own fundraiser in support of TPOR. Together, we can continue building a stronger recovery community where no one has to walk this journey alone.

Thank you for believing in this work, in recovery, and in the people we serve every single day.

The The Purpose of Recovery Story

The Purpose of Recovery (TPOR) is a peer-led nonprofit Recovery Community Organization (RCO) dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. Rooted in lived experience, TPOR provides free, bilingual, culturally responsive, non-clinical peer support that makes recovery accessible, inclusive, and community-driven.

TPOR offers Peer Recovery Coaching (in English and Spanish), support groups and workshops, parent and caregiver support, family education and resource navigation, and sober social events that foster connection and belonging. The organization serves youth, justice-involved individuals, unhoused community members, veterans, families, and anyone seeking support at any stage of recovery.

Guided by a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach, TPOR believes recovery is more than abstinence—it is connection, purpose, and self-defined growth. By building recovery capital and collaborating across behavioral health, housing, education, and justice systems, TPOR is creating a safe, empowering community where individuals and families can heal, thrive, and sustain long-term recovery together.

To reach more individuals and families in need, we are inviting you to take an active role in expanding this life-changing work. Our goal for Love Is Giving Day is to raise $30,000—and every dollar moves someone closer to recovery, stability, and hope. Through the power of peer-to-peer fundraising and generous matching gifts, your contribution can go even further, doubling the impact of your support. We encourage you not only to give, but to share our mission with your network, start your own fundraising page, and rally others to join you. Together, we can build a stronger recovery community where no one has to navigate this journey alone. Make your gift today and be part of a movement that transforms lives—because recovery is possible, and it starts with all of us.
