Addiction has touched my life in so many ways, both professionally and personally. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, researcher, and professor that specializes in trauma conscious care. Before I started my journey as a therapist, I was a volunteer sexual assault crisis counselor, primarily supporting women and femmes who experienced sexual assault and gender-based violence. As a therapist, I’ve been supporting people of all genders impacted by chemical dependency for over 15 years. I have had the honor and privilege to witness the resilience and strength of so many amazing humans. Over the years I have experienced many losses to this phenomenon of addiction. I have witnessed how crucial and even lifesaving it can be to have access to quality resources and supportive care. New Directions for Women is close to my heart because the staff, clinicians, and leadership team are all so deeply passionate about and committed to providing the kind of trauma-conscious, culturally attuned care that is becoming increasingly difficult for people to access. Please help me reach my fundraising goal to support NDFW in providing top-tier treatment to women in need and their families.
